It's been a bumpy ride...
I was born into the classic suburban family life-style. My mom was a teacher at a Christian daycare center, and my Dad was a computer technician at Brandon Regional Hospital. I was on every little league imaginable, football, baseball, basketball, soccer, etc. I had many friends, and had a very happy life. Until I was 7... My family was struck with divorce, my parents separated, and I moved to my Grandma's tiny trailer with my Mom. I left my church, and all my friends. I was terribly sad. I instantly figured life would be different, being in bars with my Grandma and having smoke everywhere, and not being in a Christian atmosphere, it was nothing I was used to be living in. I went to Gibsonton Elementary School in Gibsonton, FL for about 3 years, until one day my mom got a phone call from our old pastor. He offered her a job and she accepted. The next week I was in my old school with my old friends. Then my mom met a man named Sammy. They dated for a while, and then they decided to live together. We moved in with him when I was 11 years old. It was ANOTHER different atmosphere. We now lived in the country. I went to Turkey Creek Middle School, and lost my way with God, didn't go to church, didn't want to go to church. Nothing. I didn't really know much then, but I knew how to cuss, I knew how to disobey, and I made sure I did everything I wasn't supposed to! I got to Durant High School in 2006, I went everyday not even thinking about God. We were so separate, and at times I doubted that He even existed. I got into some stuff in high school, that I shouldn't have. I met the wrong people and did the wrong things. In the mean time my family life was going great, my Mom gave birth to a baby girl, Emma, and everything was smooth. My sophomore summer, a friend of my Mom's gave me and a friend two passes to a Christian camp for a week. I instantly took it up for a break from everything. I got to the camp thinking I was 'cooler' than these Bible 'freaks'. It took the preacher of the camp four days to actually get to me. The sermon was about reaping what we sew, and cutting the strings off of our old lives to make a better relationship with God. I started feeling my heart beating, and got sweaty, and scared for my eternity. I knew I wasn't living the way I should and at the end of the service I surrendered to God. I went to the preacher and told him I was tired of living the way I was, and I needed to make a change. I re-dedicated my life to the Lord that night. Once I got back from camp and called my friend, Jami the next day. I told her I was changed and that I wanted to come to her church. I went to her church that Sunday, and I've never looked back.
But God can be mysterious...
In 2009 my Mom diagnosed with Chrone's Disease, an internal bleeding disorder that can be life-changing. She still to this day struggles with it, and is undergoing chemotherapy treatments to help her. Also, on October 13th, 2010, my five-year-old sister Emma, was diagnosed with Cancer of the Eye. She has a tumor wrapped around her right optical nerve, and wont be helped by any doctors. But I know that none of that will bring us down because God is on our side, helping us through all of this. I'm leaning on God completely, and I'm learning that that is the best option. I hope my Testimony means something to you, and can help you. Don't let Satan win the battle, he's gonna try to change your opinion on God, but don't let him win!
